Sea Breeze

I jump out of
the fiery oven,
my car.
A gentle breeze
tickles my nose,
bearing the scent of
the sea

I amble down a small
and rutted path,
the melody of the waves
just reaches my ears,
beautiful music.

I spring,
my feet creating patterns
in the swirling sand.
I reach
the rocks.
Feet dancing,
I scramble up
the looming sides.
I am at the top.

The breeze waltzes
through my tangled hair.
The sun blazes,
hot,
on my tired shoulders.
I am
the queen
of the world
for
a
single
solitary
minute.

The sound of
the waves crashing,
pounding the sand
over
and
over,
calls me off
my throne.

Small scurrying crabs
sidestep
as  I rushby.
Gulls take to flight,
gracefully riding the wind.
as I dance                                                        away

nothing,
nothing can stop me.
finally
I am one with
the
            cool
                        salty
                                    crisp
                                                feel
of the deep blue
sea.

Waves toss me
to         and      fro.
                        pushing,
pulling,
me.
Playing a game of tug      of      war.

Waves break,
carrying me back,
back to shore
and to my family waiting,
waiting for the queen to leave her
land.
Her rocky perch,
Her swirling sands,
Her

Seabreeze
