Catching Fire
Catching Fire, Suzanne Collins unforgettable sequel to the Hunger Games, takes place in futuristic North America divided into 12 districts under the rule of the Capital. Surrounded by electric fences, each district is trapped in small sections of land where everyone is forced to work in different industries. District 12 is a coal mining industry and by far the poorest of the 12 districts. This is Katniss Everdeen’s home. Poorer than poor, many families struggle for each meal. Since winning the Hunger Games, a public fight to the death, Katniss has left her previously poor existence behind, living a life of luxury. Leaving her home again for the Capital’s twisted Hunger Games Katniss knows she’s not coming back. The arena for the 75th Hunger Games is like nothing Katniss has ever seen before. A center of salt water with lush jungles to the edges, this arena is orchestrated for her failure. Divided into 12 sections, each section brings new horrors when the time is right. Acid fog, crazy monkeys and psychological terrors await Katniss. In the word of Katniss herself, “This is no place for a girl on fire.”
